Yes the design of the stage was really well done, with the sliding doors. I should nearly come over to see Aladdin, Ian McKellan in a dress, must be worth the trip alone ! :-)

glad you agreed on richard II – I thought that the lighting, in particular, was absolutely amazing… the spotlight on the crown at the close of the play was incredibly effective. and the video screens were cute and quirky and powerful, without being intrusive.

i look forward to the old vic’s next production too – aladdin!
