New Piccadilly Cafe, London
New Piccadilly Cafe, London

The Cafe was one of my favourite places in London, and I was a regular visitor.

This Cafe was the first place in London where I began to feel that I belonged in London. I went there because it was the only Cafe I knew when I moved here, and I only knew it because of the film. I have written job applications and applications for courses there, and also read my first job contract there before I signed it. I have written my very first script in this Cafe on The Yellow Formica Table from the film. I have read books and newspapers with interviews with Davy Jones there, and I have experienced moments of happiness, belonging and inspiration while drinking my tea and eating my soup. It was always nice to be there, the waiters were incredibly friendly, they served tea The Milky Way and there was always a friendly word from the owner.

And yes this was The Cafe from the film.

Unfortunately The New Piccadilly Cafe closed its doors for good on the 22nd of September 2007, which is incredibly sad. London lost a part of its soul. And so did I.
