The Bore Ultimatum

August 21st, 2007

What is going on? Why do both the Times and the Guardian rate this (hopefully) last film in the trilogy that well? I was utterly bored! I gave it a fair chance, but I admit, having read nearly all Ludlum books, that these three were not among my favourite ones. Neither is the film.

Sparkle - review (8.5/10)

August 19th, 2007

Premiere weekend for the new Sparkle movie, written and directed by Neil Hunter and Tom Hunsinger who made The Lawless Heart.
Sparkle is an absolute delight to watch, and it has a fantastic cast.

Eagle vs. Shark - on a bag

I was there 1 hour in advance, it was empty near the box office in the Trocadero cinema, I ordered a ticket for Eagle vs. Shark preview screening and they told me - it was sold out. What?! To cheer me up, when I walked out it started raining. [...]

Pies, animals and Sparkle

August 13th, 2007

Films I have seen recently:
Evan Almighty
Rating:
Yes it is as bad as you think it is. Morgan Freeman deserves so much better than this. And another example of the fact that stupid scripts do in fact get made into block busters. It’s a ripoff from Bruce Almighty with Jim Carrey which I thought was quite [...]

Hairspray

Christopher Walken is a great actor, and he’s is the American answer to Bill Nighy. Quirky, lanky, he wears a suit with grace and oh my does he know how to shake a leg.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Today at the box office:
“Hello”
“Hello, what can I help you with?”
“A ticket for Pirates please.”
“Pirates no longer runs in our cinema.”
“What? You got to be joking.”
“I am not.”
“You can’t just take Pirates off the program, I wasn’t finished with it.”
“Aha, well [...]

La Vie En Rose (2007)

In between this summer’s blockbusters there seems to be a continuous flow of fantastic French film in the cinema as well. (Go see Not Here To Be Loved and Tell No One if you haven’t done so already). La Vie En Rose is probably the best of them until now.

How life has subtly changed

Object Linking and Embedding
That’s a boring programmers term, forget about it it’s boring.
From today on it means:
Overhead Line Equipment : Overhead lines or overhead wires are used to transmit electrical energy to trams, trolleybuses or trains at a distance from the energy supply point.
That’s a boring railway term, but it’s [...]

I apologize.
For not being able to grow up.
Or on second thought -
I don’t.

Spider man 3

Spiderman 3
The first in a long row of blockbusters hitting a cinema near you this year is Spiderman 3. I loved Spiderman 1, was less enthusiastic about 2, and number 3, well …
(there might be some spoilers ahead)

This is England, too

Colours

3 easy steps to have me leave a concert (Tina Dickow) before it even started.

A bit about Bob, a bit about film, a bit about Steffen, a bit about Tina and a bit about postcards.

Hot Fuzz - a review (8/10)

February 15th, 2007

Here comes the Fuzz

Hot Fuzz (IMDB) is probably one of the most anticipated British films this year, and if you liked Shaun of the Dead (the one and only Rom-com-zom), you can just buy your ticket for this one. Satisfaction guaranteed.
The makers of this film have very cleverly used the internet to promote this film. [...]

Manhattan and Woody Allen

February 2nd, 2007

Manhattan

No I don’t know the answers, but I live by the idea that some things get arranged by someone with a little bit more power, and hopefully sense, than me. I don’t mean this in a church-like religious kind of way, just in life-is-sometimes-really-a-simple-twist-of-fate kind of way. Or something.

One common problem - Love …
I felt slightly out of place and several people in the queue looked weird at me.
And some asked me if I was sure I was in the right queue, was I really going to watch this film?
And I said yes.
