Siberia, coal truck | 28 March 2007
In Russia the trains were powered by electricity, but the heat in the compartments and the water boiler were powered by coal. So coal had to be loaded on the train quite regularly during this trip. Our train is on the left.
At nearly every station in Russia there were people selling their goods on the platform. As temperatures were far below zero, icecream got sold right from the box!
