7 to groove you out on a Monday

Red iPod

“List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.”

I found this meme somewhere on the net, but I can’t remember where. I have included links to the songs on Youtube, so get your dancing shoes and start grooving.

  1. Sondre Lerche – Be prepared to be surprised
Has been in insane high and constant rotation on my (RED) iPod since November 2007. This song got me through the winter depression. Have passed this song on to friends who love it too. Will never ever get tired it. Comes from the soundtrack of Dan in Real Life, a film I will never get tired of either and one which you really should see too!

And Sondre Lerche is kind of cute isn’t he!

When I wrap my arms around you, ever mistake crumbles …

  2. McAlmont and Butler – Bring it back.

Until about one month ago I had never even heard this song, ever. It was a hit in the 90’s I think and at that time I was not in the UK. I got it from my best friend on a disc when I went to the Isle of Man. Some “Isle of Man chill music” she called it. Well if this song doesn’t get your feet moving, I don’t know what does, it sure moves mine! One of the most funky tunes I know. And it always makes me smile when it hear it.

I never wanted to hear you say goodbye ….

  3. KT Tunstall. Kind of cheating this, but I could not choose between those two. I love them both. These two KT songs were on the Isle of Man disc too. Great choice of music. Great lyrics too. I look forward to see her in Hyde Park two weeks from now.

KT Tunstall – Other Side of the World

Over the sea and far away
    She’s waiting like an iceberg
    Waiting to change
    But she’s cold inside
She wants to be like the water …

    KT Tunstall – Silent Sea

I was happy in my harbour, when you cut me loose …

  4. Julie Marie – Din Sommerpige (sorry no video here!)
I have posted this song on my blog a while ago. It is one of the most beautiful songs of the year for me, and if it had been in English I would have asked her for permission to use in my short film. That’s the short film we don’t talk about right now.
  5. Radiohead – House of Cards (album version)

This is such an intensely beautiful song. Even if you are not into Radiohead, surely you must like this particular song?

I don’t want to be your friend
I just want to be your lover

  6. Tina Dickow – One (and live)

I love the lyrics. I love the music. What more can I say?

Not much is so much more than nothing …

  7. I can’t leave out those two songs from Zero7:

    Zero7 – Distractions

I think that I love you
    I think that I do
So go on mister, make Miss me Mrs you.

    Zero7 – Speed dial no. 2

  8. Your shoulder in my pocket, speed dial no. 2,
See you when I need you
    See you when I do

Not tagging anyone, pick it up if you want to and put your list or a link to your posts in a comment.

Oh and just one more thing: Netherlands-France 4-1. Blimey even the Brits are roaring for the Dutch now.
