Digging through my boxes I found these. I can’t come up with any better excuse for having four (four!) pairs of 3D specs then that the model reminds me of a certain funky long legged man. This is why I have too much stuff: I absolutely lack common sense and I still haven’t grown up.
Am I the only one who can’t throw stuff out?
Four years in London is a long enough period to acquire a broad selection of electrical equipment. A laptop. Camera and phone chargers. A small telly. Some lights. And more things like that.
They all have UK power plugs. Which are different from Dutch ones as you can see. Not quite sure how to solve that challenge yet!
I am waiting for the inspiration, or should I say courage to start this project. Not sure when it arrives, if ever.
I made this video on my phone (hence the bad quality) and I managed to talk through it in the end too! So it is not a great video but here he is: Gijs the Hedgehog finishing his dinner and wandering off to his bed.
We are feeding him cat food and water, and he nearly always comes by in the evening.

Even the tiny lock next to our office is completely filled with boats in all shapes and sizes on their way to Sail Amsterdam. Sail is a 5 yearly event held in the harbors of Amsterdam where huge sail ships from all over the world come and visit the city for a weekend.
We have a new daily visitor in the garden, meet Gijs the hedgehog!
You can nearly put your your clock on it – Gijs will appear around 16.30 every afternoon, entering the garden from the neighbours garden.
He then has a little walk through the garden to see if there is anything interesting to eat for him. We have been feeding him small bits of cheese the last couple of days, and he loves those.
And after a bit of time in the garden he leaves again.

I thoroughly enjoy my short (2.7 km) cycle ride to work every day. It is a very relaxed ride on cycle tracks seperate from cars. My bicycle trip passes the old Amsterdam Olympic Stadium. I also pass loads of houseboats (very Dutch way of living) and a lock which connects de Schinkel to the Nieuwe Meer. Amsterdam really is a city of water. You can see the lock below.
In the evenings and weekends my bicycle is safely parked in the fantastic underground bicycle parking space at Amsterdam Zuid train station where it is guarded 24 hours a day. Yesterday however I had to park my bicycle for a couple of hours at an unguarded bicycle parking spot at a Metro station. And I found this poster:
I was really happy my bicycle was still there when I returned.

Or how to creatively use a bicycle saddle protection thingy to collect blackberries. We nearly always find interesting things on our cycling trips, and at the moment it is blackberry season. So we collected quite a few of them and prepared them for a little dessert.
I wasn’t the only person wandering around trying hard to remember where on earth I had left my bicycle when I went home for the weekend on Friday.
And the bicycle parking is huge at Amsterdam South station!
