How about a post that actually does justice to the title of this blog?
I was a little early for my Saturday film and on my way to the cinema I passed The Chelsea Teapot. It is a relatively new cafe (they have been around for 3 months now) and it looked so lovely I had to step inside and have a tea there.
Will she ever stop? I don’t know. I have recently received email from new participants from Spain and the UK, so people still seem interested. As long as she is comfortable traveling, I will let her do so.

It must be a perfect moment to have a post about The Girl In The Cafe on tour, seeing as another important G8 meeting is held in Japan as we speak.
Now just in case you don’t remember what it was all about, here is a message from your Uncle Bill, as he can explain it much better than I can.

OK so now you are up to date. The Girl in the Cafe, the film, is about the same things. And my DVD of this great film has been travelling for quite a while now to far away places (as you can see on the world map)
The DVD has visited 69 people around the world, and new participants are signing up regularly, with Greece, Singapore and Wales being new destinations.
And there are new reviews from a couple of people who participated.
Because he is such a great and groovy and intelligent man. Because it is such an important issue. Because it is so related to The Girl in the Cafe – we do a Bill post. How long has it been anyway!
Bill Nighy is currently lobbying with Oxfam at the G8, to make sure that the G8 doesn’t forget their promises about making poverty history.
Bill did an interview for the Andrew Marr show (Bill’s interview is about 30 minutes in the program).

The busiest traffic in London!
I have to say that driving on the other side of the road was not really a problem, you just follow the flow of the traffic. Having the steering wheel and gear stick on the other side of the car is a bit more weird though. My biggest issue was to remember that the biggest part of the car now is on the left of me, in stead of on the right, which is really important to remember if you are passing parked cars in a street on the left of you. Don’t drive to close to them!
It’s time for a post about my favourite subject and a picture of my favourite actor. 2 years and a bit on and the Girl has visited 65 people and there is still a queue (9, so it’s now 74 people) for more visits.
This blog has been neglected pretty badly lately. I will try to get back to the normal update frequency (whatever that is) asap. And yes I do feel quite a bit better, thank you. Back at work now, and it feels like I haven’t been there for 6 months. Don’t know if that is good or bad.
While The Girl in the Cafe is about to take off for her first Middle Eastern trip, 3 participants have published their reviews on their websites.

Love can’t change
what’s wrong in the world.
But it’s a start.
It will always be my favourite subject to write about, and it’s also an excellent excuse to post a picture that hasn’t anything to do with New York. Not directly anyway.
Here is an update on the project.
The Girl is currently staying in Luxembourg, the UK and the US. And while I thought the end of the tour was in sight, the list of participants is growing again, with recent sign ups from Dubai, Edinburgh and London added to the map and the list.
I also received 2 new reviews, one from Robert in Croatia, and one from Robin and Hannah in the UK. A big thank you to the both of them for writing them and for participating.

The Girl is still travelling, and is currently staying with Andy in Brazil. (Brazil: lucky girl!) Andy is about to send her off to the UK and has just written his review. Yes I know it is in Portuguese, Google helps a bit translating it into some form of English (Babelfish does a much better job! Just enter the URL) which I am sure loses all the details of the article. But looking at this language I do not understand, looking at the picture of Bill and Kelly in a place that still is dear to me in this post surrounded by words and just the fact that this crazy idea made it this far around the world already, well that makes me happy.

Firstly, a long due update about the The Girl In The Cafe DVD on tour project.
The Girl DVD is still touring, and currently on her way to Brazil, Germany and New Zealand. People are friendly enough to send the Girl to the next person, but writing reviews seems to have been a bigger problem. The last few weeks some reviews related to the project have been written and you can read them here:

This unusual love story has touched me. A love story between a high ranking bureaucrat (Lawrence) and a girl next door, or as you like, a girl next bar (Gina). Somehow it felt hard to believe that such different people could ever met. Well, erm they did. Of course the overall message is clear, as the film rolls out. Lawrence is preparing his part for the summit of the G8. As he tells Gina about the G8, she became more and more outspoken about the upcoming conference. This causes trouble for Lawrence. But she opened eyes for those who couldn’t see…
In the end I wanted to fall in love too. That, to me, is a huge compliment for a film

I don’t know why it took me this long, I guess because I all the time hoped that it wouldn’t close. That and because I am shy. So I waited for a quiet moment where there weren’t too many people around.

I received a couple of good e-mails the last few days which is something that always makes me happy. Most of them were related to the Girl on tour which is an ongoing logistic planning project, but if I could do it full time I would quit my job right here right now to do it.

Sold out in Waterstones London, but Barnes & Noble in New York luckily had it. And even if you have no intention of becoming a screen writer, if you love romantic comedies this book is like chocolate cake with cream and a little red cherry on top.

This is so true.
Despite the fact that it is Valentine’s day, a day single people tend to hate, and I am no exception.
And you can keep your cards with “I LOVE YOU”, your Sainsbury’s Taste the difference spring milk chocolates in a heart shaped box, your Marks and Spencers Organza Heart with Heart Truffles, your romantic spa weekend for two and your shared bank account. And you think yeah, that’s what any pathetic single girl would say. I hear you, but I actually mean it. Not only because I still don’t understand the concept – why do we need a specially assigned day to say “I love you”? Say it as often as you can. All year around.
And apart from all that – I would really rather fall off my chair.
Lucky, as that was exactly what happened.
